Omicron Omega Brothers support St. Jude through local walks, fundraising, and awareness efforts. Walking and giving together connect our Richmond community with Iota Phi Theta’s wider support for children and families.

The work matters because people matter. These are some of the ways Omicron Omega’s Brothers turn our Five Principles into support for students, families, and neighbors.
Jonathan Earl Coleman Book Scholarship
Continuing an education takes encouragement as well as resources. Our book scholarship helps students take that next step and gives the chapter an opportunity to celebrate their aspirations with their families.
Scholarship recognition has been part of Iotas in the Park, bringing students into a wider circle of community support. The 2026–2027 application packet is now available. This one-time $500 book scholarship supports graduating high school seniors—young men and women—with a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA who plan to pursue postsecondary education.

Virginia State University endowment
Scholarship & Fidelity
A lasting connection to our roots.
All five Omicron Omega charter members were Eta alumni. Our commitment to Virginia State grows from that shared history and the belief that those who follow deserve opportunity, too.
The chapter established its permanent VSU Foundation endowment with an initial contribution in 2017 and continued supporting it in later years. It connects the gratitude of alumni with educational opportunity for future students.
As of September 2026, our endowment stands at $32,000. With just $9,000 more in community support and a matching $9,000 contribution from VSU, we can reach the next endowment tier of $50,000. Together, we can sustain support for students on campus and protect the legacy that connects generations of Iotas to Virginia State.

Scholarship & Citizenship
Help a student start ready.
A backpack, notebooks, pencils, and other everyday supplies can make the start of school easier for a family. Omicron Omega’s school-supply work has reached White Stone, Kilmarnock, and the Northern Neck through local relationships and community support.
The chapter’s drive and block-party tradition brings giving together with food, music, vendors, and fellowship. In 2027, we look forward to our fifth year of this initiative and to expanding our reach in Greater Richmond, helping more students start school with adequate supplies. We share confirmed collection needs and event details through the chapter calendar.

Citizenship & Brotherhood
Sharing what we can, when it counts.
Our chapter history includes nonperishable food collection for Feed More, Thanksgiving family outreach, and seasonal toy support. Brothers, families, and friends help turn a gathering into an opportunity to care for someone else.
At Iotas in the Park, food collection has accompanied the fellowship. Seasonal efforts vary, so contact the chapter for current needs and collection arrangements before bringing donations.

Citizenship
Showing up for young people and their families.
Roses and Wings is a girls’ mentoring program led by Margaret Johnson. It encourages confidence, positive expression, and thoughtful choices.
Omicron Omega supports the program through volunteering, ushering, food, and contributions. Graduation celebrations bring participants together with family and community supporters. We are proud to support the people leading this work and help make those milestones special.

Richmond’s cultural life
Our service history includes the 2nd Street Festival, the Elegba Folklore Society’s Down Home Family Reunion, and RVA Kwanzaa activities. These relationships connect us to Richmond’s cultural life and the families who sustain it.
NPHC-Metro Richmond
We serve alongside our Divine Nine neighbors through collective service, civic engagement, and fellowship. Our delegates—Christopher Carter, Jackai Hembrick, and Jamal Hill—connect Omicron Omega’s work with the council’s shared priorities. Learn about our council involvement.
Stronger together: NPHC of Metro Richmond

Omicron Omega is deeply involved with the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Metro Richmond. Alongside our Divine Nine partners, we contribute to collective service, civic engagement, fellowship, and relationships that strengthen the Capital Region. Our delegates help turn chapter participation into dependable support for the wider council.
NPHC-Metro Richmond’s initiatives include Leigh Street cleanups and partnership with the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia. These efforts unite Divine Nine members around caring for our neighborhoods, preserving Black history, and connecting Richmond families with their shared heritage.
We are also looking toward opportunities to welcome the wider fraternity and sorority community to Richmond. Omicron Omega is preparing to play a meaningful role in a future Iota Phi Theta Eastern Regional Conference, with details to follow official announcements.
We support Richmond’s pursuit of a future NPHC National Leadership Conference. If Richmond is selected, RVA Iotas intends to work closely with NPHC-Metro Richmond and our Divine Nine partners to deliver a world-class conference rooted in service, hospitality, and collaboration.
